Nopalito

I am not going to lie, I tried this place because the name Nopalito is fun to say outloud. If you are like me, then you will have a blast saying their name over and over when you read their menu.

Regardless, Nopalito is a nice spot to check out during the day with a date or friend. It has a good ambiance and welcoming feel that will allow you and your eating partner to chat with ease.

Even though this place is known for their Mexican dishes, you wouldn’t guess that due to the interior decor. I like the decorations and layout, but it ain’t no taqueria. This can either be a positive or negative depending on what time of eater you are. For me, I had no issues. I just looked at it as a diner with Mexican food.

Picture above is an example of something you normally would not find in your typical Mexican taqueria. Again, no biggy. Just know that this isn’t going to be the hole-in-the-wall you are seeking.

For a snack, Nopalito gives you these spicy nuts to nibble on. Love dem nuts in my mouf.

For drinks I ordered their horchata. I do not remember what the other drink was because my ex got that months ago. I just remember the horchata being hands-down better. Both were good, but that horchata was pretty damn good.

For my ex’s dish, she ordered their empanada. It didn’t look like a typical empanada I have seen at other restaurants, but it was still pretty good. The avocado and sauce mixed on top made it good.

As for me, I ordered their signature dish, pork belly quesadilla. I really liked this especially when I put on their homemade hot sauce on top. Had a nice crunch texture and the pork belly was delicious. It was a bit dry for a quesadilla, but still was worth a try.

And lastly, we ended the meal with some Mexican cookie treats. These are complimentary as were the spicy nuts. These were pretty good. Just be aware that these are pretty powdery. Therefore, don’t try to go Rambo and dominate it all within one bite.

In conclusion, I thought this was a nice spot to check out. In reality, this would normally not be my typical spot to hit up for Mexican food, but I still enjoyed myself.
