Commonly, when I hear the word Buster’s I think of the Chucky Cheese Arcade version for adults. However, this one is different. This place is a cheese steak shop located in the Russian Hills district of San Francisco.
Thankfully, I was introduced to this place by a friend when we had a mutual colleague visiting from out of the country. Normally, I am never in this district because a lot of the places are too fancy smancy for me. I was never raised around rom com’s type of restaurants or been to places where there are multiple utensils so I commonly avoid these areas.
However, thankfully my friend introduced me to this place when passing through. Surprisingly, this food joint is completely opposite of the district’s fancy environment theme. In fact, you can categorize it as your typical small hole-in-the-wall type of joint that only true locals know about.
As you walk in, you automatically see how small the place is. The seating are all on stools and counters. No tables. If you can’t handle being close to others in a packed room, go stand outside and let your friend order for you… or be weird and close your eyes.
As you can see from the photo above, there are a select choice you can choose from for your type of sandwich. Some are unique, some are your typical cheese steak. However, the thing that makes this stand out is their customer service and juiciness from the meat.
Since the place is a small joint, you have front row seats to the kitchen. Through being in a close proximity, you are given the opportunity to see the sandwich made and be able to smell all the chemistry of ingredients being combined to one another. In my opinion, this is my gladiator match of heaven.
For my sandwich experience, I tried out their Phillapeno Cheese Steak. Overall, it was very juicy and the cheese was melted very well. In other words, it was quite orgasmic.
I did have the opportunity to try my friend’s sandwich, but sadly did not take a photo. The reason why I am pointing this out is because on their sandwich they had the Cheez-Wiz cheese topping. I don’t know exactly what it was, but it was really good. It made me regret not taking this as my cheese topping. So if you do ever try this place, you must get the Cheez-Wiz topping.
In conclusion, try this place if you like cheese steak sandwiches. There are other good places in the area too, but I feel this is a good spot to introduce people when visiting from out of town.
